The legendary private island Coste-armoricaine for sale at Bretagne Nord & Sud Sotheby's
Bretagne Nord & Sud Sotheby's International Realty - December 2, 2024
The architectural jewel of the Côte de Granit Rose, the emblematic island of Northern Brittany is looking for its new owner. Bretagne Nord Sotheby's International Realty is offering this prestigious estate for sale. Worthy of a Caribbean postcard, this unique, timeless property offers a breathtaking living environment.
With Christmas fast approaching, what could be more original and romantic than giving your sweetheart a private island?
AN ISLAND IN AN ENCHANTING SETTING
Situated just 700 metres from the charming fishing village of Ploumanac'h in the Côtes d'Armor, facing Brittany's illustrious Côte de Granit Rose, lies this private island of lush vegetation flanked by a magnificent 19th-century château built by the Lithuanian-Polish mathematician, engineer and inventor Bruno Abdank-Abakanowicz.
Built in neo-Gothic style, the building was once a meeting place where many Polish artists came to find inspiration, including Henryk Sienkiewicz, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature for his novel Quo Vadis, written within these walls and published in 1895.
THE CHÂTEAU AND ITS RAMPARTS
Renovated in 1980, the building offers living space spread over 4 levels and a basement. The preservation of ancient features, the beauty of the knights' hall and the reception and banqueting room give the place a unique character. In addition to its five spacious bedrooms, the building features a sauna, fitness room, panoramic room, TV room and several sumptuous terraces.
The château also boasts outbuildings, a heated swimming pool with massage jets, two sandy beaches and two landing stages for travel between the mainland and the island, with access to this haven of peace at low tide on foot.
A CREATIVE LOCATION FOR FILM SHOOTS
The manor house was recently used as a film set in a French series about fashion. Directed by Fabrice Gobert and Daniel Grou, the saga reveals the scandal of a family dynasty behind the scenes of a century-old fashion house. Played by Lambert Wilson and Carole Bouquet, the characters are brought to life in private architectural settings, including the famous Breton island.
